Bump, set, spike…let’s play volleyball!

A very enjoyable CLIL unit about rules and fundamentals of volleyball. It is suitable for 3rd graders (lower middle school). This learning unit gives great opportunity to both enjoy the game and use the language encouraging discussions about the use of possible strategies. It also enables learners to express their emotions and feelings suggesting possible conflict resolution techniques.

Eine Kleine Nachtmusik and Die Zauberflöte is a Clil project which enables pupils to explore Mozart’s world and music. It’s a sort of Journey to the Past accompanied by an insight into the composer’s melodies and experiences. The pupils can enhance their understanding and knowledge by comparing past and present while digging deeper into Mozart’s life. A special focus on dancing and singing involves the students into this magic atmosphere where the communication is carried out in English.

Earthquakes and Volcanoes

The module is about earthquakes and volcanoes, focusing on the vocabulary needed to describe them. The processes and theories are presented through videos and images and the Ss are asked a feedback on them.
They are also asked to perform some actions (what to do during an earthquake, making a volcano erupt), to produce an output about volcanoes (a presentation on volcanoes around the world) and to transfer their knowledge into a lesson for primary school students. The class activities are based on the communicative approach through guided questions and discussions.

After a short general overview concerning the main physical systems, the module presents three important capitals of Eastern Europe focusing on some physical and cultural aspects, such as landscapes, history, art, food and tourism. Italian Renaissance artists, themes and painting techniques

Il Modulo CLIL di Arte e Immagine è diviso in due parti e ha l’obiettivo di illustrare il tema del ritratto e
dell’autoritratto attraversando la storia dell’arte dal Rinascimento fino alla Pop Art.
Oggetto di analisi sono state diverse opere a partire da Leonardo da Vinci a Andy Warhol, è stato poi trattato il tema del Corpo umano attraverso l’opera di Michelangelo Buonarroti e in particolare “Il Giudizio Universale” dipinto per la Cappella Sistina Roma - Vaticano.
